Metropolitan Ministries' Project Playground for Homeless Families
On May 11, 2013, Preferred Pools and Patios participated in Metropolitan Ministries' playground project for Blue Star Families, a non-profit organization that helps homeless kids. Sponsored by KaBoom! and Bank of America, the project was well attended by volunteers who built the playground at MiraclePlace, at 2016 North Florida Avenue in Tampa.
The new playground is part of Metropolitan Ministries' MiraclePlace housing expansion, which has 50 transitional apartments offered for homeless families.
Gathering in this photo were Zach Heiny, Morris Hintzman, CEO of Metropolitan Ministries, Rudy Heiny, founder and president of Preferred Pools and Patios, The Honorable Mayor Bob Buckman of Tampa, and Jake Heiny.
More About MiraclePlace's New Playground
"This playground is such a blessing to the children that call Metropolitan Ministries their home, although it'll be their home for just a short period of time,” said Tim Marks, president of Metropolitan Ministries.
Metropolitan Ministries' officers say that, at any given time, there are a hundred and fifty kids within the PromiseLand early service education center which will use the playground. "We're terribly excited to assist offer a place of happiness and fun to kids whose lives are in transition." same Bill Goede, bay market president, Bank of America. "This playground can function as a place for kids and families to play, learn and support each other. Our staff is excited about giving back to the community and we're happy to be here with members of our community to create a beautiful playground."
Adds Rudy Heiny, president of Preferred Pools and Patios of Tampa, "First, I'd like to thank the 200 volunteers who gave of themselves to build the playground for these kids in transition. Both of my sons and I felt that this was a very important project for the community, and we applaud the work and dedication of Metropolitan Ministries."
